Boys U14 Beeston7 Success

Earlier in the day the U14 team competed in a round robin event in which they won 5 and drew one of their games to be crowned champions.

They Beat Beeston Bees with some scintillating passing hockey 5-0 with goals form Ben Lomas and two apiece from Oscar Sadicot and Brendan Andrews.

Match 2 proved to be bigger challenge and after surviving 3 hits against the post and some great saves from keeper Cameron Goodey they forced a breakaway and a well taken goal from Oscar Sadicot winning 1-0

The next game against West Bridgeford Monarchs saw some great keeping again from Cameron Goodey and a Brendan Andrews strike sealing the points.

Beeston Swarm followed and this was the crunch game with Beeston also being unbeaten to this point. A fast and flowing game saw each side have chnaces but the defence particularly from Sam Anderson held firm and a great passing movement from the back saw Ben Lomas take the ball and cleverly round the Beeston keeper and finish well to win 1-0.

Rutland followed and after a nervy start a goal from Ben Lomas and a hat trick from Brendan Andrews saw an easy 4-0 victory.  This meant that a draw or a win against Belper would secure the trophy.

Belper went ahead but the CoHP team never allowed their heads to drop and playing the open brand of play they adopted throughout soon saw them equalise via Oscar Sadicot.  Further pressing saw Manish Patel finish another fine flowing move but a rare lapse at the back allowed Belper to score.  The team continued to press but the winner failed to materialise, but with the final whistle the trophy had been secured with a two all draw.

The whole team played some fantastic hockey and many observers commenting on the great hockey played by the lads and that the win was thoroughly deserved.  Everyone played their part but a joint Man of the tournament went to Cameron Goodey for some excellent saves and a great all round performance and Sam Anderson whose defensive and forward style of play was of the highest order.

In all this was a great end to the season for the u14 team.
