About the club

The City of Peterborough Hockey Club was formed at the commencement of the 2006/2007 season, following the merger of Peterborough Town Hockey Club and Peterborough Athletic Hockey Club. Peterborough Town HC dates back to the 1950s for its Men’s section, and the 1930s for the Ladies section.

We run 8 men’s teams, from the 1st team who play in the England Hockey National League, with the remaining teams all in the East Regional League. Our 2nd XI play in the top tier of Regional League Hockey (Prem A), with teams at all levels then through to the 7th & 8th XIs who are our development teams in the lowest tier of the league.

Our 4 ladies’ teams also all play in the East League, where the 1st XI lead the way in the East Prem, looking to push for National League promotion.  Again, like the men, the remaining teams are spread through the East League, so there is an appropriate level of hockey for all players whatever their experience or age.

The club also operates a thriving junior and mini hockey section. Our age-group teams have often reached the latter stages of national competitions, while those too young to play full matches can enjoy the booming sessions on Sunday mornings.

Our club and main hockey pitch is at The Dalrod Sports Ground, Bretton Gate, next to the Peterborough City Hospital.  The playing surface was replaced for the 2019/20 season and there are four other club sports all on the same site, with thriving and successful Cricket, Tennis, Squash and Bowls sections, as well as the social facilities in our large Clubhouse.  We also play some of our league games at the pitch at the Queen Katherine Academy.
