Report: CoP Men’s 5th XI vs Cambridge City 3s – February 22, 2025
We played in white shirts and socks.
We set up with a 3-5-2 lineup hoping to bolster the midfield and control the middle of the pitch.
Cambs City 3’s are the top of the league team and have not lost all season.
We started positive, passing the ball about but conceded 2 early quick goals from a fast moving Cambs City team.
Umpiring decisions were not going our way and 1st half ended after 32 minutes instead of 35 and we ended the half 3-0 down.
Sam made some excellent saves and great work from Shane Carlton kept the score line to just 3.
We battled hard in the second half with good runs from Tom Wilson and Michael Boyle down the middle.
Gaining 2 short corners we failed to convert either and Michael Boyle failed to convert a 1 v 1 chance against the keeper.
With the top 2 teams now out the way we can look forward to some less taxing games.
Shane Carlton got an almost unanomous MOM and Harry Pinhorn let the side down with the only Card (green) of the day with a
terrible stick tackle. And for his pennance he got short washing duty.
