Report: CoP Men’s 5th XI vs Ely City 2s – January 18, 2025

A disappointing start to the season.
We were full of confidence before the start of the game.
Encourange by a near full squad and some additions expierenced players coming back from injury.
But conceeded a goal after 2 minutes.
Ely played well moved the ball around and kept the pressure up.
It was 3-1 at half time.
We started strong in the 2nd half and phil martin got a goal to make it 3-2.
However due to constantly loosing the ball in midfield and after winning the ball, taking it straight
 into contact again we put ourself under a lot of pressure and Ely piled on the goals.
Nathan Howarth played oustanding in defence and was voted Man of the Match by most of the team.
Michael Boyle got a consolation goal a few minutes from full time
The game finished 7-3.
Things to take from teh game are that we need to keep posession after winning the ball and move it to
 a safer space away from the opposition.
