Young players off to National Festival

This weekend it is the turn of some our youngest players to show what they can do against opposition from far afield.

Both the City under 14 boys and girls development teams have received invitations and are off to Cannock Hockey Club (pictured below) for a National Festival on Sunday.

The Under 14 National Hockey Festival offers teams who played in the Under 14 Development Leagues the chance to attend an end of season event to round off their season.

InvitationsU14 Girls to the end of season final day are given to those teams that have performed well in the local leagues.  City of Peterborough have certainly have done that, so well deserve to be there.  In the league stage the City Girls (left) have just lost once in two seasons, but the boys this year have also been in fine form winning their league unbeaten with games to spare.

The emphasis on the competiton is player development, with matches are played in the 7-a-side format.  Reflecting the ethos of the competition there will be no formal competition with teams drawn to play, where possible, against teams they would not usually play against.

We wish both teams well on their big day out!
