Drake / Short make Masters World Cup Squads

City of Peterborough HC’s Jonathan Short (Wales O40) and Adam Drake (England O40) have been selected for the inaugural FIH / IMHA Masters Hockey World Cup. Shayne Andrews just misses out on England O45 final squad selection after playing in the Home Nations in June.

The Masters World Cup is being held in Canterbury, Kent from the 14th to the 24th August, with 13 nations and 45 teams taking part across a number of age groups.

England and Wales have been drawn in the same qualification group along with Australia and South Africa.

Both sides are in the final stages of their preparation before their meet each other in the opening game of the World Cup, following the opening ceremony.

Group games: –

14th August – England v Wales 11:50

15th August – Wales v Australia 13:45 & England v South Africa 15:10

17th August – South Africa v Australia 15:10

18th August – England v Australia 16:50

21st August – Wales v South Africa 08:30

Cross over games, semi’s and final are to be held on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th August.
