CoP Men reach last 16 of the EH Cup without lifting a stick

Scheduled to play on Sunday with no EH league game this weekend due to Futures Cup games, CoP were looking forward to meeting Lewes in the “round of 32”.

Lewes were surprise conquerors of CoP’s EH East Conference rivals, Indian Gymkhana in the last round, whilst CoP thrashed the only team to beat them in East Prem A last season, Bedford.

However, late on Friday, Lewes cried off the game, citing injuries and Futures Cup (well actually they said HiPac but that was 2 weeks ago!) as reasons for having insufficient players.

Pity that they couldn’t replace the 2 players at Cannock, even if one of them is England junior keeper Sam Brookes, but this means that CoP will take their place in the last 16 and are still hoping for a home draw against one of the EH Premiership ties.

The draw will take place on Monday – watch this space.
