Ladies enjoy a great finale!

Whilst other clubs had clearly decided that the season was already over, CoP Ladies kept going to the very end and were rewarded in the best possible fashion.

Leading the way were the ladies 1st XI, who faced on paper a tricky trip to Cambs Univ to face the students 2nd XI, knowing that a win was needed to seal promotion. Having lost the reverse game 0-1 earlier in the season, and with Long Sutton hard on their heels, there was no room for error. However, even the most optimistic of the team were stunned to come away with not only a victory – but an absolute thrashing. The final scoreline of 13-0 was the biggest win in the memory of most in the ladies section, and it would appears that the students had already left for home at the end of term. The result moves the ladies back up to East League Div 1 North next season.

In addition, the ladies seconds scored a great 2-1 victory over Shefford & Sandy who had already been crowned champions of Div 2NW, and perhaps assumed that victory today would be a formality. They reckoned without the CoP ladies fighting spirit, and the victory ensured a last-gasp escape from the relegation zone at the expense of Newmarket on goal difference.

With the 3rd XI finishing runners up in their Cambs League division, and the 4ths a respectable mid-table, it has been a great season for the ladies all round.
