Superheroes party raises £450 for Kidney Research

Simon Roberts’ wife Dawn is running the London Marathon in April, and on Saturday evening she hosted an end-of-season party at the club which raised over £450 for her chosen cause, Kidney Research.

With the men’s 2nd XI using the occasion to send their fines money, the bar takings were guaranteed a boost, and there were players, partners and kids there from all teams, with many taking up the challenge of appearing as a Superhero or Villain. The sight of Duncan Seaton and Darren Griffiths strutting around as Spidermen will remain long in the memory,……as will Tina Hings’ stunning little black number alongside Dawn’s own very fetching Robin outfit (no prizes for working out that Simon was her Batman!).Tom Wadsworth’s luminous orange morphsuit, closely rivalled but less glowing by Adam Wilson’s blue one, caused equal amounts of hilarity.

With the alcohol flowing and the 1st XI also in celebratory mood, there was a wonderful atmosphere and plenty of photos on Facebook to prove it.

Point to note from the evening is that James Fisher needs some lessons in how to take part in a boat race….

Well done to everyone who contributed to a great evening and a fantastic total for Dawn’s cause.
