Junior Hockey at CoPHC
CoPHC has a long tradition of ensuring that its juniors are an inclusive part of the Club and in 2016 has formed its own formal Junior Committee to deal with the ever-increasing number of U18s involved in the Club.
Gwyn Williams as Junior Chairman will chair this committee, and Wilma Morton is his Vice-Chairman. Other members will be the junior team managers and coaches as needed as well as Simon Morris who is helping to build links with both the Stamford Schools and with business as the club searches for more sponsorship. The group plans on meeting regularly in line with main club committee meetings to allow communications to flow easily between the groups. The Junior Committee have the power to make any proposals for the junior sides, although any financial decisions will be ratified by the main committee.
Currently the main focus is building more school links in Peterborough and the surrounding area, to ensure that as many young people as possible are being given the opportunity to learn to play hockey and join in the various junior activities we run at the club.
Many of our juniors go through the formal EH Single System, starting with local JDC (Junior Development Centre) and moving through JAC (Junior Academy Centre - the old "county" system) and on to JRPC and even NAGS. Various pages in here explain the opportunities for our U18 players; our club policies for them can be found in the members section of the website.
